Also - if you need to travel in an emergency, everything you need should be with you. Its a good idea to have a handy bag containing your travel documents, a spare credit card, US/Indian currency and a list of important phone numbers - so you can just grab the bag and leave, if you need to.. @yad – Yes, that sucks. Get a locker, but don't keep your passports in there in case the bank is closed. I learnt that the hard way. I had to be at the US embassy in chennai on a monday morning to renew my US passport.I booked tickets on saturday afternoon for the following day and then looked for the passport which were safely tucked away in the locker. the bank was obviously closed saturday afternnon and sunday. Besides, I never keep track of bank strikes. I had to go on tuesday and my work was delayed. You are absolutely right about that rule. Rule no 2.
